Trunk or Treat ends its longtime Halloween tradition

Trick or Treaters will have one less opportunity to grab goodies this Halloween Season.

Mitchell Middle School’s annual Trunk or Treat event is ending.

Middle School counselor and Unfiltered Reality Advisor Traci Moore says Trunk or Treat has been going for almost 25 years. “However, a lot of the different contributors that we had financially are not available,” said Moore. “We’ve had some grant funding that is not available and also, a great problem to have is our community has so many other things going on.”

She says the number of student participants has been dwindling. “We have been serving between a third to a half of the numbers of kids that we were initially starting back when things were in its prime,” Moore pointed out.

Moore is grateful for the community support through the years. “And I look forward to seeing how they’ll continue to keep in the spirit in the different entities around town.”
