Turning dirt at Peaceful Pines

The dirt’s been turned and construction is in full-swing for Peaceful Pines Senior Living overlooking Lake Mitchell’s north shore.

HME Care vice-president Dylan Kessler of Brookings says it’s a new brand of senior living. “Something that looks and feels different,” said Kessler. “Residents that are allowed to be more active, they’re engaged in different ways and we have a full continuum of care from independent living, assisted living and even memory support services.”

And if all goes well, “we plan to open our community towards the end of 2026,” Kessler said. “Which means we’ll start hiring staff here sometime in abut the middle of next year, and really getting everything positioned and bring in residents right around Christmas next year.

Kessler estimates a staff of around forty to start with.
