Mitchell Police arrested two males from Sioux Falls early this morning after an officer on patrol observed suspicious activity near a business in the 1100 block of E. Spruce Ave
The Mitchell Police Department says around 1:52 am the officer noticed two males walking around a single vehicle while using flashlights. When the officer approached to investigate, the individuals attempted to walk away and then ran away when called back. Both were located nearby hiding behind a business, with one found inside a dumpster.
40 year old Joey Donkersloot is charged with obstructing law enforcement as well as arrest warrants from Brookings and Lincoln counties plus a bench warrant from Yankton County.
36 year old Jorge Ramos, Jr. is charged with obstructing law enforcement.
Mitchell Police say the incident serves as a reminder to always lock your vehicles and secure any loose property. With colder weather, individuals passing through town may be tempted to seek shelter or transportation by unlawfully entering vehicles. Taking a few simple precautions can help prevent theft and keep the community safer.
