Two opinions of the recently passed Davison County office consolidation ordinance

Numerous community members shared their feelings, during Tuesday’s public hearing regarding, the proposed county ordinance combining the treasurers and auditors offices into a single County Finance Office.

Davison County Republican Party vice-chair Sonya Van Erdewyk wanted more evidence the ordinance would improve efficiency. “I think if we are really going to be true and transparent to our community, I think we need documentation of those numbers,” said Van Erdewyk.

Former Commissioner Brenda Bode researched how it’s worked with other counties. “In my due diligence of these findings, I concluded that yes, this was a service to the residents and county commission,” said Bode. “And yes, it was efficient use of taxpayer dollars.”

Commissioners approved the ordinance on a four-to-one vote.
