The South Dakota Department of Public Safety is reporting two pedestrians died in a single vehicle crash Wednesday evening one mile south of Flandreau.
Preliminary crash information indicates shortly after 10 pm, the 55 year old female driver of a Ford Escape was traveling south. As the vehicle approached an intersection, it came upon two pedestrians walking in the southbound lane, colliding with both.
Both pedestrians, a 25 year old woman from Wentworth and a 34 year old man from Springfield, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was not injured.
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
