One person died and another was seriously injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash near Rapid City.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported the 44 year old driver of a Mazda 3 was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near mile marker 53 around 6:30 pm. The 56 year old male driver of a Ford F350 was traveling westbound in the same lane when the Mazda collided with the Ford head-on.
The driver of the Mazda died at the scene. The driver of the Ford sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. Both were using seatbelts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
