Welcome to Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo Week

The 55th Corn Stampede Rodeo week officially launched with Tuesday evening’s Community Kickoff at Stampede Park. One of the highlights is announcing the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo Parade Marshal.

Chairman Jim Miskimins introduced this year’s marshal. “For his contributions to the rodeo and his contributions to the community, for being our friend, will you join me in saying congratulations to our friend and great marshal, Mark Sturdevant,” Miskimins announced.

He then introduced Bullfighter Kaleb Barrett, who’s worked the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo numerous times since 2008. Miskimins described him as an extraordinary optimist and consummate professional. “He’s a member of our rodeo family, and he’s certainly earned the distinction of being inducted into the Corn Palace Stampede Hall of Fame,” Miskimins told the crowd.

The action starts Thursday evening with extreme bull-riding at Stampede Park.  Ticket information is available at cornpalacestampede.com.

After a long absence, window decorating returned to Rodeo Week festivities. Here are the placings for this year’s contest: 4th Place, Caribou Coffee, 3rd Place Twin Dragon, 2nd Place, Cortrust Bank, 1st Place, Pin Cushion.
