Ten teams battled it out to claim the title of king of the wings during Saturday’s Wingapalooza at the Corn Palace. It’s the largest fundraising benefit for Mitchell Main Street and Beyond which works to revitalize and market the city’s historic district.
Executive Director Jared Indahl says the event was amazing. “Our vendors were great, our volunteers showed up, the people came out,” Indahl said. “Overall it was a really great event for our community.”
Hundreds of people sampled a variety of wing recipes and selected their favorites while a team of judges selected an overall winner, hot wing winner and best decorated booth.
MTI captured first-place honors for hot-wings followed by the Moose Lodge and Coborn’s. Overtime Steakhouse took first place in People’s Choice followed by Big J’s Roadhouse and the Moose Lodge. And Big J’s Roadhouse was the overall winner with their smoked wings, followed by County Fair and the Depot.
The Back 40 earned the best decorated booth award.
