A 30 year old man from Winner was recently sentenced to federal prison after his conviction of Abusive Sexual Contact with a Child.
Clayton Spotted Calf was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
The conviction stems from conduct that occurred between approximately April 2015 and June 2017 within the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. On more than one occasion during that period, Spotted Calf engaged in sexual contact with a child who was then between the ages of six and eight years old.
This matter was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office because the Major Crimes Act, a federal statute, mandates that certain violent crimes alleged to have occurred in Indian Country be prosecuted in Federal court as opposed to State court.
