Avery Broughton Named CSC Second Team Academic All-America

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Dakota Wesleyan University athlete Avery Broughton has been named Second Team Academic All-America® by the College Sports Communicators.

Broughton earned this prestigious distinction by posting a 3.84 GPAC in Dakota Wesleyan University’s nursing program alongside an impressive resume from this past season of competition among just nine other top-level NAIA competitors.

The Corsica, South Dakota, native was named First Team All-GPAC during the women’s basketball season along with being named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, shooting at a 52.3% clip from the field, and breaking the single-season program block record with 77.

The junior was a crucial piece of DWU Women’s Basketball’s historic 2025-26 season, earning Second Team NAIA All-Tournament honors for her efforts during the round of 16, national quarterfinals, and semifinals down in Sioux City. Broughton was also recently named NAIA First Team All-American for her standout campaign.
