Mitchell claimed three of five individual state titles in Pierre on Saturday with Bentley Bates finishing first in uneven bars and balance beam, while Olivia Prunty took home first in the vault.
Bates had an all-around score of 38.299 to place second behind Harrisburg’s Katelyn Maeschen (38.799). Prunty took home third with an all-around total of 37.899. Junior Keyana Kelley ended up in sixth place at 36.566.
In the uneven bars, Mitchell and Harrisburg had all of the top 10 finishers led by Bates (9.766), a third place finish for Prunty (9.55) and a fourth place finish for Sophomore Kyanna Gropper (9.366).
Bates also took home first in the balance beam with a score of 9.65. Aubrey Gelderman placed fifth in beam at 9.40.
On vault, Olivia Prunty had her best score of the season, finishing first at 37.899, while Kelley was third with a score of 36.566.
The Kernels had a pair of top five finishes in the floor competition as Bates took home second (9.683) and Gelderman finished fifth (9.60).
Bates, Prunty and Gropper earned all-tournament selections with the Kenrels taking home 17 medals in the top 10.
On Friday, Mitchell won its ninth state team title, the third in four years and second straight.
