Big 7th inning gives Mitchell a 12-6 win over Ashland

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Mitchell Post 18 Legion baseball improved to 2-1 at the Gopher Classic with a 12-6 win over Ashland (Neb.) on Saturday with seven runs in the 7th inning.

Mitchell (22-10) had a 5-2 lead going into the 7th inning before taking advantage of five walks and a pair of hit batters to score seven runs in the inning and 12 hitters coming to the plate.

Mason Geraets went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI’s for Mitchell, while Jace Larson had two hits and two RBI’s.

Landon Waddell had another solid start for Post 18, giving up just two runs and three hits over five innings to get the win.

The Gopher Classic is held on 16 different sites throughout the Twin City Metropolitan area and each team will participate in a pool of 6 teams while playing five games in three days. All of pool games will be played at the same host site.

Mitchell will take on West Fargo at 9 am on Sunday.

If Post 18 can make it out of its Pool, that would play in the Round of 16 on Monday at 11:30 am in Bloomington, Minnesota.
