KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Powered by a career-high 34 points from Brooklyn Meyer, South Dakota State top Kansas City 80-60 Saturday afternoon at the Swinney Center.
South Dakota State improves to 24-3 on the season and 14-0 in conference games and has taken sole possession of the Summit League regular season title for the third straight season.
Meyer’s 34 points are the most points scored in regulation by any Jackrabbit in the Division I era and she is the third player in history to record three 30-point games in a single season. She went 13-for-16 from the floor and contributed five rebounds and two assists.
Haleigh Timmer added 15 points, including four 3-pointers, followed by Paige Meyer with 11 points. They each matched Brooklyn Meyer’s five rebounds.
Paige Meyer also dished a game-high seven assists. She ended the game with 458 career assists, which ranks first in SDSU’s Division I era and is fifth in program history.
The Jackrabbits led by just three points at halftime, 39-36, then outscored the Roos 41-24 in the second half.
Kansas City had a 33-32 edge in rebounding. The Jacks tallied 22 assists on 30 made field goals for the game and committed six turnovers. The Roos posted six assists and committed 10 turnovers.
Kansas City slips to 11-18 overall and 7-7 in Summit League play. Alayna Contreras scored 24 points to lead the Roos. She was joined in double figures by Amani Bennet with 14 points.

- Brooklyn Meyer’s 34 points are the most scored in regulation by a Jackrabbit in the Division I era. Paige Meyer is SDSU’s Division I single-game scoring record holder with 37 points in double overtime at Northern Arizona last season.
- Brooklyn Meyer has scored at least 30 points three times this season. She is the third Jackrabbit in history to record at least three 30-point games in the same season, joining Macy Miller (three, 2018-19) and Karla Stevenson (seven, 1986-87).
- South Dakota State has won 11 Summit League regular-season titles.
