(LOS ANGELES) — The Los Angeles Chargers have parted ways with their offensive coordinator, Ken Whisenhunt, the team announced Monday.
In a statement, Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said the decision to fire Whisenhunt wasn’t easy and “definitely not one that I take lightly.”
“You win as a team, and you lose as a team. It’s never about just one person,” Lynn said. “At the end of the day, however, I simply felt a change was needed at this time.”
“I want to thank Ken for his years of service to the Chargers organization and wish him nothing but the best moving forward,” he added.
Whisenhunt, 57, had been with the team since 2016. His ouster comes as the Chargers have fallen to a 3-5 record halfway into the regular season and are averaging only 19.6 points per game.
