
YANKTON, S.D. — Behind a deep and balanced lineup, the Mitchell Kernels girls golf rolled to a convincing team title Thursday at the Yankton Quadrangular at Fox Run Golf Course.
Maddie Childs finished first individually with a 3-over-par 75, while teammate Mia Larson followed closely with a 77 to secure a 1-2 finish for Mitchell. The Kernels posted a team score of 325, finishing 31 strokes ahead of host Yankton.
Mitchell’s depth proved decisive. Anna Eliason shot an 86 to place fourth, and Brynlee Sabers added an 87 for fifth. The Kernels placed seven golfers inside the top 10, with Londyn Hajek (89), Elliot Smith (91) and Presley Meyerink (92) rounding out the group.
Yankton finished second at 356, led by Ellia Homstad, who placed third with an 84. Olivia Woods (88) took sixth, and Sabrina Krajewski (90) finished eighth.
Sioux Falls Washington placed third with a 420, followed by Harrisburg at 428.
Mitchell returns to action on Tuesday at the Pierre Invitational at Hillsview Golf Club.
