Class AA Boys State Tournament, Thursday, March 20th in Sioux Falls

No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln 55, No. 8 Spearfish 33
Lincoln outscored Spearfish 29-13 in the second half after holding a six point halftime lead. Sam DeGroot had a game-high 15 points.

No. 4 Mitchell 50, No. 5 Huron 41
Markus Talley with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Gavin Hinker had a game-high 18 points for the Kernels. Blake Ellwein finished with 16 points for Huron on 1-of-10 shooting and 13-of-16 from the foul line. There were 37 total fouls called and 44 combined free throws. The Kernels have now won 31 straight games when scoring at least 50 points.

No. 2 Brandon Valley 55, No. 10 Sioux Falls Jefferson 41
Landon Dulaney had 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Brandon Valley, while Jefferson’s Kuek Keuk finished with a game-high 12 points

No. 3 Harrisburg 48, No. 6 O’Gorman 45
Harrisburg hangs on as O’Gorman cut a 15 points Tigers lead down to one in the final minute. Austin Terveen with a game-high 15 points for the Knights, who shot just 25% from the field as a team. Aiden Costain and Stellen Larson had 10 points each for Harrisburg.

Semifinals, Friday, March 21st

No. 5 Huron 49, No. 8 Spearfish 35
Blake Ellwein with his second straight 16 points game in the win for Huron, including 8-of-11 from the foul line. Davis Chase added 12 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for the Tigers. Spearfish shot just 22% (11-of-48) from the field for the game.

No. 10 Sioux Falls Jefferson 68, No. 6 O’Gorman 65
Nyun Dut had a game-high 19 points and Caleb Terveen had 17 points in the loss for O’Gorman. Kuai Mayen had 16 points to lead SF Jefferson, while Mason Payne added 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists

No. 4 Mitchell 55, No. 1 SF Lincoln 51
Kernels advance to Saturday’s Class AA championship game for the third consecutive year. Markus Talley with a game-high 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three. Talley fouled out with 1:45 remaining. Colton Smith and Gavin Hinker both hit two free throws in the final minute to break a 51-51 tied. Lincoln shot 5-of-25 from three and 37% overall for the game. Patriots are 21-0 on the season and 0-2 vs. Mitchell.

No. 2 Brandon Valley 46, No. 3 Harrisburg 31
Landon Dulaney led Brandon Valley with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Stellen Larson finished with a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds in the loss for Harrisburg. The Lynx advance to their second straight championship game and a rematch with Mitchell.

Saturday, March 22nd

No. 8 Spearfish 61, No. 6 O’Gorman 55 – 7th Place
Kamren Davis led Spearfish with 24 points, going 6-of-11 from three. O’Gorman Austin Terveen finished with 17 points for the Knights.

No. 10 Sioux Falls Jefferson 61, No. 5 Huron 60 – 5th place
Blake Ellwein led Huron in the loss with 24 points, five rebounds and five assists. SF Jefferson shot 9-of-16 from three, while Colby Huttbrock had a team-high 20 points and six rebounds.

No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln 81, No. 3 Harrisburg 52 – 3rd Place
SF Lincoln finished 17-of-33 from three, led by Sam Ericsson with 17 points and 5-of-9 from three. Sam DeGroot also finished with 17 points for the Patriots, who finish the season 22-2. Stellen Larson had a game-high 22 points for Harrisburg.

No. 2 Brandon Valley 53, No. 4 Mitchell 45 – Championship
Lynx shoot 10-of-21 from three. Briggs Knutson with a game-high 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from three. Gavin Hinker with 15 points, Markus Talley with 13 points. Mitchell ends the season 20-4 with two losses to Brandon Valley. The Lynx end the season 21-3.
