Class AA Girls State Tournament, Thursday, March 13th in Rapid City

No. 1 O’Gorman 69, No. 9 Sioux Falls Jefferson 42
O’Gorman wins their 48th game in a row, led by Sydney Terveen’s 17 points, five rebounds and six assists. The Lady Knights had a 25-8 lead after the first quarter and a 47-14 lead at halftime.

No. 4 Rapid City Stevens 53, No. 5 Spearfish 41
Taaliyah Porter finished with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Rapid City Stevens.

No. 2 Brandon Valley 69, No. 7 Pierre 36
Gracie Salter had 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals for Brandon Valley, one of four Lynx to finish in double figures. Brandon Valley has won 20 straight games vs. South Dakota schools.

No. 3 Sioux Falls Washington 55, No. 6 Mitchell 38
SF Washington dominated inside vs. the Kernels, outrebounding Mitchell 43-26. Lauren VanOverschelde finished with a game-high 12 points for Mitchell. The Kernels shot 6-of-24 from the field in both the first and second half to finish at 25% for the game. The Warriors have won eight straight games vs. Mitchell.

Semifinals, Friday, March 14th

No. 5 Spearfish 61, No. 9 Sioux Falls Jefferson 54
Mya Kochuten with 26 points and six rebounds for Spearfish, while Abby Horner finished with 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting for SF Jefferson. The Spartans were 21-of-29 from the foul line with the Cavaliers shooting just 6-of-9.

No. 6 Mitchell 48, No. 7 Pierre 38
Addie Siemsen with a game-high 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three. Londyn Hajek the KORN Player of the Game with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting and nine rebounds. Pierre did not make a field goal in the final 9:13.

No. 1 O’Gorman 58, No. 4 Rapid City Stevens 31
Julia Eggert with 21 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Knight, winners of 49 games in a row. Taaliyah Porter had 14 points for Rapid City Stevens, who shot 11-of-49 from the field (22%).

No. 2 Brandon Valley 72, No. 3 Sioux Falls Washington 56
For the second straight season, Brandon Valley advances to the Class AA championship game to face O’Gorman. Alyvia Padgett had a game-high 30 points and seven assists for the Lynx on 10-of-19 shooting and 10-of-12 from the foul line. The Warriors shot just 12-of-46 (26%) for the game.

Saturday, March 15th

No. 9 Sioux Falls Jefferson (13-11) 52, No. 7 Pierre (13-11) 51 – 7th Place
Abby Horner’s layup with five seconds remaining gives Jefferson the victory. Horner had 22 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-11 shooting. Emery Larson led Pierre with a game-high 23 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three.

No. 6 Mitchell (16-8) 49, – No. 5 Spearfish (18-6) 38 – 5th Place
Mitchell holds Spearfish to under 10 points in the final three quarters. Addie Siemsen with a game-high 13 points as the Kernels finish the season 16-8.

No. 3 Sioux Falls Washington (20-4) 67, No. 4 Rapid City Stevens (17-7) 64 – 3rd Place
Taaliyah Porter with 37 points and nine rebounds in the loss for Rapid City Stevens, including 14-of-20 from the foul line. SF Washington shot 54% from the field compared to 34% for Stevens, however the Raiders stayed in the game by shooting 11-of-31 from three. Dana Harpe with 20 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors.

No. 1 O’Gorman (24-0) 47, No. 2 Brandon Valley (21-3) 46 – Championship
O’Gorman comes from 12 points down with under six minutes to play to win its second consecutive AA state title and 50th game in a row. The Lady Knights ended the game on a 16-3 run over the final 5:45. Ruby Moore scored five points in 11 seconds to give O’Gorman the lead for good with 33 seconds left. Sydney Terveen had a game-high 21 points as the Lady Knights end the season 24-0.
