No. 4 Ethan 54, No. 8 Corsica-Stickney 34 – Semis

Ethan used a dominant performance from beyond the arc to defeat Corsica-Stickney 54-34 Friday.

The Rustlers knocked down 14 three-pointers, accounting for 42 of their 54 points and helping them control the game from start to finish. Ethan finished 19-of-45 from the field (42.2%) and 14-of-36 from three-point range (38.9%).

Marissa Storm led the way with 17 points, including five three-pointers, while adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Taziah Hawkins also connected on five three-pointers and finished with 15 points, and Macie Dean added 10 points, hitting two threes.

Corsica-Stickney jumped out early behind a pair of three-pointers from Sophie DeLange, taking a 10-5 lead midway through the first quarter. Ethan responded with a quick surge as Storm and Hawkins each hit three-pointers during a 9-0 run to give the Rustlers a 14-10 advantage at the end of the period.

Ethan extended the lead in the second quarter as the outside shooting continued. Storm knocked down another three-pointer early, Hawkins added one from deep and Sadie Mueller hit a three with 3:26 remaining to push the Rustlers ahead 25-13. Ethan carried a 25-16 lead into halftime.

The Rustlers broke the game open in the third quarter. Storm and Hawkins combined for four three-pointers during a decisive stretch as Ethan poured in 22 points in the period. A three-pointer by Dean with 4:55 left capped a run that stretched the lead to 39-19, and Ethan took a 47-30 advantage into the fourth.

Corsica-Stickney was led by DeLange with 19 points, including five three-pointers, while Braylee Bordewyk and Hadynn Johnson each scored six points.

Ethan also controlled the glass with a 26-22 rebounding edge, led by Rachel Klock’s nine rebounds, and forced 14 turnovers, converting them into 18 points.

Reserve Madelyn Nebelsick added four points and four rebounds for Ethan, and Mya Storm hit a late three-pointer as the Rustlers closed out the 20-point victory.

No. 6 Harding County 58, No. 2 Parkston 42 – Semis

Harding County used a balanced scoring effort and strong interior play to defeat Parkston 58-42 Friday.

The Ranchers led from start to finish, building an early advantage and steadily extending it throughout the game. Harding County finished 21-of-43 from the field (48%) and dominated inside, outscoring Parkston 38-18 in the paint.

Kaylen Padden led Harding County with 13 points, going 8-of-10 at the free throw line, while Carson Page added 10 points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench. Maci Wammen chipped in eight points, and Macey Wendt, Raelee Hunsucker, and Sattyn Wilson each scored six points.

Harding County grabbed control early. After Parkston took a brief lead on free throws by Berkley Ziebart, the Ranchers responded with a strong run sparked by transition baskets from Kamry Padden and Hunsucker. Late free throws by Wilson helped Harding County take a 20-14 lead after the first quarter.

The Ranchers extended the lead in the second quarter. A three-pointer by Kaylen Padden and several inside baskets by Page helped Harding County push the advantage to 32-22 at halftime.

Parkston tried to stay within reach in the third quarter behind Ziebart and KeeAra Oakley, but Harding County maintained control. Kaylen Padden knocked down four free throws during the period as the Ranchers carried a 44-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Parkston made a brief push early in the final period when Morgan Maxwell hit a three-pointer to trim the deficit to nine, but Harding County answered with a basket by Page and a fast-break layup from Hunsucker to push the lead back to double digits.

The Ranchers sealed the win at the free-throw line down the stretch, converting 15-of-20 attempts in the game.

Parkston was led by Oakley with 17 points, while Ziebart added 15 points and seven rebounds and Maxwell finished with eight points.

Harding County also controlled the boards 37-22 and received 24 bench points, helping secure the 16-point victory.

No. 1 Lyman 53, No. 5 Colman-Egan 48- Consolation Semis

Mak Scott delivered a dominant inside performance to lead Lyman to a 53-48 victory over Colman-Egan Friday in the Class B Girls State Basketball Tournament.

Scott finished with a game-high 21 points and 15 rebounds, helping the Raiders control the paint throughout the contest. Lyman outscored Colman-Egan 40-18 in the paint and held a 45-35 rebounding advantage.

Colman-Egan started strong, using three first-quarter three-pointers from Brynlee Landis to build a 19-13 lead after the opening period. The Hawks extended the advantage to 21-15 early in the second quarter before Lyman began to rally.

Scott scored repeatedly inside during a key run late in the half, tying the game 27-27 at halftime after converting a basket in the final seconds.

The teams traded momentum in the third quarter. Landis knocked down another three-pointer and Maci Voelker added one from deep as Colman-Egan regained the lead. Jolie Flatter scored on a fast break just before the buzzer to give the Hawks a 41-39 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

Lyman responded early in the final period. Jordyn Scott hit the Raiders’ only three-pointer of the game with 6:05 remaining to give Lyman a 44-41 lead, sparking a decisive stretch.

Colman-Egan tied the game 46-46 on a three-pointer by Flatter with 3:36 left, but Scott answered with another basket inside and Brooke Montgomery followed with a fast-break layup to push the Raiders ahead for good.

Scott sealed the victory with a free throw in the final seconds.

Landis led Colman-Egan with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Flatter added 18 points and Voelker scored three. The Hawks struggled from the field, shooting 28% (16-of-57), including 25% from three-point range.

Lyman shot 42% from the field and relied heavily on its interior offense to secure the five-point win. Jordyn Scott and Montgomery each added 10 points for the Raiders.

No. 3 Bennett County 77, No. 7 Centerville 68 – Consolation Semis

Peyson O’Neill delivered a dominant performance to lead Bennett County to a 77-68 victory over Centerville Friday.

O’Neill finished with a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 12-of-19 from the field, while helping Bennett County control the paint and the glass. The Warriors outscored Centerville 32-14 in the paint and held a 39-31 rebounding advantage.

Bennett County jumped out to an early lead behind aggressive defense and transition offense. Reagan O’Neill scored six quick points and Harley Harris added a three-pointer as the Warriors raced to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter.

The lead stayed steady in the second period. Harris knocked down two more three-pointers and finished the half with 11 points as Bennett County took a 39-27 advantage into halftime.

Centerville tried to rally in the third quarter behind strong outside shooting. Brea Austin and Izzie Eide each connected from three-point range during a run that trimmed the deficit to 55-46 late in the period.

However, Bennett County answered with a surge inside. Peyson O’Neill scored repeatedly in the paint and added a three-pointer during a key stretch that pushed the lead back to double digits. Chloe Louden added a late basket to give the Warriors a 62-49 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Centerville made one final push midway through the fourth quarter. Eide scored six straight points to cut the margin to 66-59, but Bennett County responded again. Peyson O’Neill buried a three-pointer with 2:39 remaining, and Jade O’Neill followed with another three to extend the lead to 74-64 and secure the win.

Harris finished with 13 points, while Reagan O’Neill added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Bennett County. Madi Waln chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Centerville was led by Izzie Eide with 20 points, while Brea Austin added 19 and Peyton Hansen scored 17.

Bennett County shot 52% from the field and 33% from three-point range, while Centerville shot 35% overall, with 11 three-pointers keeping the game close despite the Warriors’ advantage inside.
