YANKTON, S.D. — Dakota Wesleyan Men’s Golf was in action for its first tournament of the 2026-27 season as they took part in the Mount Marty Invitational at the Hillcrest and Fox Run Golf Courses.
As a team, the Tigers finished eighth out of 14 scoring squads. Ben Wilber was DWU’s top finisher, as he placed 20th out of 74 individual competitors. After shooting an 80 in round one, he was able to strongly recover and post an impressive 75 in round two with three birdies. He finished the overall competition at +11. Dakota Munger also finished the competition at +11, after posting rounds of 76 in round one and 79 in round two. He ended the tournament with six birdies throughout the 36 holes, including two of them in a four-hole stretch.
In his opening performance as a Tiger, Carter McCormick recorded a respectable 158 (+14) on two consistent days of competition, while Zane Messick, Everett Morrison, and Griffen Boomgarden each wrapped up their debuts with tied scores of 159 (+15).
DWU Men’s Golf is next in action on September 14th at the Siouxland Invitational, where their rounds will be played at Adams Homestead & Nature Preserve.
