ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State running back Isaiah Davis was honored Monday as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Jackrabbits’ road victory Oct. 7 at Illinois State.

A senior from Joplin, Missouri, Davis rushed 20 times for a season-high 197 yards (9.8 ypc) and two touchdowns in top-ranked SDSU’s 40-21 win. His touchdowns covered 3 and 2 yards, with his second score coming one play after a season-best 49-yard carry early in the fourth quarter.

It was the 18th 100-yard game for Davis in his career, with the Jackrabbits improving to 17-1 in those contests. His performance came against a Redbird defense that was allowing only 58 yards per game on the ground. As a team, the Jackrabbits racked up 374 rushing yards.

SDSU hosts Northern Iowa in the annual Hobo Day game Saturday afternoon at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
