Dakota Wesleyan opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo home run by Peyton Bagley but was ultimately defeated 12–4 by Northwestern in a six-inning contest. The Tigers recorded 10 hits and hit four solo home runs—by Bagley, McKinnely Mull, Avery Perkins, and Elle Feser—but were held scoreless in three of the six innings.
After tying the game in the first, Northwestern pulled ahead with two runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth. Dakota Wesleyan briefly narrowed the deficit to 8–3 in the sixth, but Northwestern responded with four runs in the bottom half to end the game via run rule. Mull also stole a base and recorded two hits, including her home run.
Alison Ernsberger started in the circle for Dakota Wesleyan and allowed eight runs (five earned) over five innings. Keirstyn Krcil pitched in relief, giving up four more runs in two-thirds of an inning. The Tigers committed one error in the game and left four runners on base.
