MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan baseball has clinched the No. 8 seed and will face top-seeded Concordia (NE) in the opening round of the 2025 GPAC Tournament. The Tigers will travel to Seward, Nebraska, for the Concordia pod, which includes (1) Concordia, (4) Briar Cliff, (5) Midland, and (8) Dakota Wesleyan. This marks the Tigers’ first GPAC Tournament appearance since 2019.
This season has been a rollercoaster for Dakota Wesleyan, showing the team’s resilience and ability to battle through adversity.
The Tigers last appeared in the GPAC Tournament in 2019, where they competed at Concordia. That year, they posted a 1-2 record, defeating Mount Marty before falling to Concordia and Doane.
At one point this season, Dakota Wesleyan ranked in the top four of the GPAC standings. However, a few miscues down the stretch pushed them into the eighth spot. Now, they look to pull off a major upset against nationally ranked Concordia.
Opening Matchup: Dakota Wesleyan vs. Concordia (NE)
(8) Dakota Wesleyan (12-35, 11-17 GPAC) – The Tigers secured a top-eight finish to qualify for the tournament. Offensively, Dexter Payne and Caleb Meyers lead the team in most major statistical categories. On the mound, Minnesota native Alex Mizsak has paced the Tigers, leading in several pitching categories.
(1) Concordia (39-7, 25-3 GPAC) – The Bulldogs enter as the tournament’s top seed after an impressive regular season, with their only conference losses coming against Midland, Doane, and Briar Cliff. During the regular season, Concordia swept Dakota Wesleyan in a four-game series.
