DWU Men’s Basketball Surges Before the Half to Take Control and Defeat Midland

FREMONT, Neb. — Dakota Wesleyan Men’s Basketball faced the Midland Warriors in a GPAC matchup on the road.

The Warriors started the contest with the initial momentum, jumping out to a 12-4 lead five minutes in, but the Tigers were able to claw back into the lead by the end of the first half. Steele Morgan got to work in the paint, leading the Tigers in scoring with 23 total points on a 10-12 (83.3%) clip from the field, while Anthony Riggans and Andrew Younan provided early support from three. Riggans ended the day with 19 total points alongside five rebounds, three steals, and two assists, and 12 additional points from Easton Neuendorf in the starting lineup helped Dakota Wesleyan hold a 42-37 lead over Midland at the half.

Randy Rosenquist Jr. led the Tigers on the glass with eight total rebounds alongside 11 points, four assists, two steals, and a block, while Morgan grabbed seven of his own, and Noah Oberfeld posted three boards off the bench. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half, but seven made three-pointers made a big difference heading into halftime, as Midland went 0-5 from beyond the arc.

The second half saw both teams continue a steady scoring effort, but the Tigers were able to keep their distance from the Warriors for the remainder of the contest thanks to timely scoring and continued success in the midrange on offense. Tyson Stevenson and Oliver Vincent both posted three points each, with Vincent making his first appearance on the floor for DWU since the opening contest of the season against Grand View back in October 2025. Younan posted seven total points in 15 minutes played.

The Tigers found separation on the free throw line, nailing 15 of 20 (75%) attempts from the striple, while Midland would only get five points off of fouls. DWU nearly doubled MU’s three-point percentage and limited turnovers to push the final score in favor of the Tigers, 79-70, to move to 8-8 overall.

DWU Men’s Basketball will be back in action on Wednesday, January 7th, at the World’s Only Corn Palace.
