Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball has five representatives for the GPAC All-Conference team for the 2023-24 season. One, First Team in Freshman forward Emma Yost who was also named the GPAC Freshman of the Year. One, Second Team in Junior guard Morgan Edelman. Three Honorable Mention’s in senior guard Isabel Ihnen, freshman forward Shalayne Nagel, and Sophomore guard Rylee Rosenquist.
Emma Yost– Has appeared and started in all 30 games for the Tigers at the forward position. Yost earned First Team honors and was also named the GPAC Freshman of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Emma averaged 14.7 points per contest which led the team and was fifth in the conference. Yost had a career-high 28 points in the 83-59 win over Mount Marty (1/20/24). The Wagner native recorded at least 20 points in six games and had double figure points in all but three games this season. Emma had double-doubles against St. Thomas (12/21/23), CSM (1/14/24), and at Hastings (2/2/24).
Morgan Edelman– Has appeared in all 30 games this season with 29 starts at the point guard position. The last season GPAC Honorable Mention, earned Second Team honors this season with her career-high 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds per game. The 7.9 rebounds per contest ranked Edelman first on the team and third in the conference. Edelman recorded her first career 20 point game when she dropped 20 in the 75-64 win over Hastings (2/2/24). Morgan had six double-doubles during the season and recorded at least 10 rebounds in 10 games. Set a career-high 13 rebounds in three different games during the season. Morgan also led the team with her 1.8 steals per contest.
Shalayne Nagel– Has appeared in all 30 games this season with 21 starts at the guard/forward position. The Springfield native collected GPAC Honorable Mention honors with her 9.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks per contest. The 1.7 steals finished Nagel second on the team just behind Edelman’s 1.8 while the 1.3 blocks led the team and ranked her third in the conference. Recorded her first 20 point game with 23 against (RV) Briar Cliff (2/7/24). Had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also setting a season high in blocks with five in the 69-52 home win against No. 13 Dakota State (12/13/23).
Isabel Ihnen– Has appeared and started in 21 games at the guard position. Ihnen who last season was named GPAC Second Team, earned Honorable Mention this season after her season was cut short due to an ACL injury. During the 21 games Ihnen averaged a career-high 9.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Tied a career-high in points in a game with her 21 vs. Doane (11/17/23). Nearly missed out on a double-double with her 11 points and nine rebounds against (RV) Northwestern (12/6/23). Had at least three made three-pointers in six games during the season.
Rylee Rosenquist– Has appeared in 29 games this season with 14 starts at the guard position. The last year GPAC Honorable Mention repeated the efforts with earned Honorable Mention honors during the 2023-24 season. Rosenquist averaged a career-high 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Had a career-high 26 points against No. 1 Dordt (2/21/24). Followed that up with a standout 21 point, six assist, and six rebound performance in the 80-68 GPAC Quarterfinals win over Northwestern (2/28/24). Credited with a 11 point and 11 rebound double-double in the 83-75 win over No. 6 Concordia (2/11/24). Rosenquist has been battling an ankle injury all season that will require surgery in the offseason.
