Four Tigers Earn All-Conference Honors, Dwight Named GPAC Attacker of the Year

Mitchell, S.D. – The Dakota Wesleyan volleyball team had four players named to the 2023 GPAC All-Conference team while also having Ady Dwight named as the GPAC Attacker-of-the-Year. Dwight earned First Team honors, true freshman setter Kayleigh Hybertson was named to the second team while libero Tya Weideman and hybrid outside hitter and defensive specialist Elizabeth Tyler earned Honorable Mention honors.

Ady Dwight – Attacker-of-the-Year & First Team – Langford, S.D.

Played in all 34 matches for the Tigers as a middle blocker. Dwight was named the GPAC Attacker-of-the-year while also earning GPAC First Team honors. The dominance for Dwight continued in her senior year racking up a staggering 556 kills to go with a career best .345 attack percentage while compiling 97 total blocks. Dwight during the season moved into second all-time in kills at 1,841 and was named GPAC Attacker-of-the-week three times during weeks three, six, and ten. Dwight finished the regular season ranked first in the GPAC and NAIA in kills and was credited with a career highs in digs with 44 and aces with her 10. She set a new career-high with 29 kills vs. Dakota State (10/3/23) which is the most since at least 2012. Ady had at least 10 kills in 31 of the 34 matches on the season while having 15+ kills in 21 matches. Dwight had a season-high seven total blocks at No. 10 Midland (10/6/23).

Kayleigh Hybertson – Second Team – Sioux Falls, S.D.

Played in all 34 matches for the Tigers as the starting setter and was named to the GPAC Second Team in her first season. Hybertson finished the season with 1,181 assists which already ranks her 11th all-time. She was credited with 52 kills, 243 digs, 40 total blocks, and had 24 aces. Hybertson led the team in double-doubles with 10 on the season and had a season-high 63 assists in the five-set win at Dakota State (8/29/23), the 63 assists are the most in a single match since at least 2012. Kayleigh recorded at least 30 assists in 24 of the 34 matches while dishing out nine games with 40+. Hybertson set a new season-high with her 17 digs vs. Morningside (9/15/23) and was named GPAC Setter-of-the-week twice during her freshman season while finishing the regular season ranked first in total assists in the GPAC and fifth in the NAIA.

Tya Weideman – Honorable Mention – Mellette, S.D.

Played in all 34 matches as the Tigers libero while earning GPAC Honorable Mention honors. Weideman joined the 1,000-dig club with her career-high 662 digs on the season, bringing her career total to 1,284 which ranks her 12th all-time. She was also credited with a career-high 56 assists and had 15 aces on the season. Tya set a new career-high with her staggering 37 digs in a five-set win at Dakota State (9/29/23) and recorded 35 digs at Dordt (10/28/23), 33 vs. Dakota State (10/3/23), and 32 against Benedictine (9/2/23). Weideman was credited with double-digit digs in 33 of the 34 matches while recording 20+ digs in 13 matches. She finished the regular season ranked second in the GPAC in digs and fourth in the NAIA.

Elizabeth Tyler – Honorable Mention – Mitchell, S.D.

Played in all 34 matches for the Tigers while earning GPAC Honorable Mention honors. Tyler was the swiss army knife for the Tigers with her 220 kills, 385 digs, 21 aces, 20 blocks, and 11 assists. She had a season-high 14 kills with a .419 attack percentage vs. Mount Marty (10/14/23) and was credited with a season-high 18 digs at No. 12 Jamestown (10/31/23). Elizabeth recorded double-digit digs in 23 of the 34 matches while also compiling five double-doubles on the season.
