MITCHELL KERNELS
— Mitchell baseball, 7-6 on the season, hosts Sturgis for a doubleheader on Friday at 4:30 pm. The pregame show starts at 4:15 pm on KORN News Radio FM 101.3/AM 1490 and KORNRadio.com
— Mitchell Kernels boys tennis lost to Rapid City Stevens in a dual on Thursday 7-2. The Kernels will compete at the Rapid City Invitational on Friday and Saturday starting at 8 am.
— Mitchell Kernels softball, 4-4 on the season, had its game on Thursday vs. Brandon Valley postponed due to weather. The Kernels will be at Brookings on Monday at 4 pm, followed by a home game vs. Yankton on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
— Mitchell Kernels girls golf had its quadrangular on Thursday at Bakker Crossing cancelled due to weather. The Kernels will be at the Pierre Invite at Hillsview Golf Course on Tuesday at 10 am.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN
— Dakota Wesleyan baseball will wrap up the regular season this weekend as they host Concordia for back-to-back doubleheaders. Game one on Friday is schedule for 1 pm and the first of two games on Saturday is schedule for Noon, both at Drake Field. The Tigers are in eighth place in the GPAC with an 11-13 conference record with a four-game lead over Waldorf and just percentage points behind Mt. Marty for seventh.
— Dakota Wesleyan softball hosts Morningside on Saturday for a doubleheader at 1 pm, before getting ready for the GPAC Tournament starting on Wednesday. The Tigers are currently in fourth place in the conference with a 13-7 record, three games up on Concordia and three games behind Morningside for third place.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State softball hosts Omaha for three games starting on Friday at 5 pm, followed by a 1 pm doubleheader on Saturday. The Jacks are currently 1.5 games behind Omaha for first place in the Summit League. Omaha enters the series on a 12-game winning streak, are 33-9 overall and have won the last two Summit League Softball Tournaments.
— South Dakota State baseball starts a three game home series vs. North Dakota State on Friday at 3 pm, followed by a Saturday doubleheader at 11 am. NDSU will be designated as the home team for the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader as that game is being made up after being postponed by weather when the two teams met in Fargo in late March.

— USD softball starts a three-game series at North Dakota State with a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.
NFL
— Miami QB Cam Ward went No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night in the first round of the NFL Draft. The first surprise came with pick No. 2 as Jacksonville traded up three spots with Cleveland to select Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter. Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty went No. 6 to the Raiders, Green Bay selected Texas WR Matthew Golden at No. 23, while the Vikings picked Ohio State OL Donovan Jackson with the 24th overall pick. The only other QB selected in the first round was Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss, who went to the Giants with the 25th pick after New York traded back into the first round with Houston. Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders dropped out of the first round. The second and third round of the NFL Draft resumes tonight in Green Bay with Cleveland having the next pick.
NCAA
— The judge overseeing the rewriting of the college sports rulebook threw a potential roadblock into the mix Wednesday, insisting parties in the $2.8 billion antitrust lawsuit redo the part of the proposed settlement involving roster limits that many schools are already putting in motion. The judge gave the sides 14 days to contact their mediator and return to the bargaining table. The settlement in the class-action lawsuit called for schools to no longer be bound by scholarship limits for their teams, but rather by roster limits in which everyone would be eligible for aid.
OLYMPICS
— Simone Biles is unsure whether she will compete at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. For now, the most decorated gymnast of all-time has other priorities and is listening to her body, too. The 28-year-old American will be in Los Angeles for the Games but does not yet know in which capacity. Biles won three gold medals and a silver at the Paris Olympics, taking her career total to seven Olympic golds and 11 medals overall.
NBA
— Chet Holmgren scored all but one of his 24 points in the second half as the Oklahoma City Thunder rallied from a 29-point deficit after Ja Morant left the game with a hip injury to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 114-108 for a 3-0 lead in the first-round series. Morant was hurt with just over three minutes left in the first half and Memphis leading 67-40. The 29-point comeback was the second-largest in an NBA playoff game since 1997 season.
— Karl-Anthony Towns scored 31 points and Jalen Brunson had 30 as the New York Knicks held on for a 118-116 win over the Detroit Pistons to take a 2-1 lead. The Pistons have lost eight straight home playoff games since 2008, pulling within one of an NBA record set by Philadelphia from 1968 to 1971. Game 4 is on Sunday in Detroit.
— After two close games to open the playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers came home and had their way with the Denver Nuggets. Kawhi Leonard had 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 117-83 victory Thursday night that gave the Clippers a 2-1 lead in their first-round series. Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists for his second triple-double of the series
