AMATEUR BASEBALL
Alexandria 7, Dimock/Emery 3 – Jack Gray with 10 strikeouts over eight innings for Alexandria, allowing one earned run. Jackson Jarding went 3-for-5 with three RBI’s. Peyton Nash had three hits and an RBI for Dimock/Emery, while Sam Arend hit a HR.

Corsica 5, Winner/Colome 4 (11 innings) – Logan Baker would drive in the game winning run on an RBI single in extra innings. Baker went 4-for-6 with a double and three RBI’s. Blake Moke picked up the win, throwing 4 1/3 shutout innings.

Parkston Mudcats 11, Platte 6 – Cullen Verville with a three-run HR and five RBI’s for Parkston. Grant Doom had a three-run HR for Platte.

Canova 15, Dell Rapid PBR 5 (7 innings) – Riley Genzlinger, Justin Miller and Jared Miller all had three hits apiece for Canova. Jared Miller threw six innings, allowing one unearned run, no hits and nine strikeouts.

Kimball/White Lake 9, Colome 6 – Mitchell Price allowed one hits over 4 2/3 innings for Kimball/White Lake with seven strikeouts.

Burke 6, Plankinton 1 – J.J. Farner went 7 1/3 innings for Burke, striking out eight, while also walking eight. Devin Mehlhaff had two hits for Plankinton.

Four Corners 12, Wessington Springs 4 – Andrew Coverdale had four hits.

Freeman 6, Menno 5 – Jake Weier with six innings pitched for Freeman, allowing two runs on six hits, while Bailey Sage had three hits and an RBI.

Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 12, Salem 2 (8 innings)

— The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association are set to inducted five players into the Hall of Fame at a banquet this November. Doug Schooley of Watertown, Freddy Ellis of Mitchell, Nate Henry of Dell Rapids, Lee Heimes of Wynot (NE) and the late Mike Hiltunen of Volga. The SDABA Hall of Fame is located in Lake Norden.

MITCHELL KERNELS
— Mitchell Black 14-and-under baseball split a pair of games Thursday at the Mid-Summer Classic tournament in Sioux Falls. Mitchell defeated the Titans 11-0, before losing to Dell Rapids 4-3 in a walk-off.

— Mitchell White 13U were victorious against Harrisburg Maroon 7-3 on Thursday, while also losing 7-6 to George-Little Rock of Iowa.

MINNESOTA TWINS
— Pete Crow-Armstrong hit two home runs for his fifth multi-homer game this season, giving the Chicago Cubs and 8-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Crow-Armstrong went 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs to help the Cubs avoid a three-game sweep. Colin Rea won his third straight start with a three-hitter over a season-high seven innings. The Twins host the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at 7:10 pm with Joe Ryan facing Paul Skenes.

— Brent Rooker and Jazz Chisholm Jr. have joined the lineup for Monday night’s All-Star Home Run Derby in Atlanta. Rooker of the Athletics has hit 58 home runs since 2024, third among American League players. Chisholm, a Yankees infielder, is making his Derby debut. Other participants include Ronald Acuña Jr., Byron Buxton, Junior Caminero, Oneil Cruz, Cal Raleigh and James Wood.

TENNIS
— Carlos Alcaraz takes on Taylor Fritz, and Jannik Sinner faces Novak Djokovic in the men’s semifinals at Wimbledon. Both matchups are scheduled to be played Friday at Centre Court, with No. 2 seed Alcaraz vs. No. 5 Fritz leading things off at about 1:30 p.m. local time, followed by No. 1 Sinner vs. No. 6 Djokovic. The two winners will meet Sunday in the Wimbledon final. Alcaraz has won the last two trophies at the All England Club, beating Djokovic in the final each time. Djokovic is trying to tie Roger Federer’s men’s mark of eight Wimbledon trophies and become the first tennis player in history with 25 major singles titles.

— Amanda Anisimova upset No. 1-ranked Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at Wimbledon and will face Iga Swiatek in the final. Swiatek has won five Grand Slam titles elsewhere but earned her first berth in a final at Wimbledon.

NBA
— Cooper Flagg made his professional debut Thursday night in the NBA Summer League with an 87-85 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Flagg finished with 10 points on 5-for-21 shooting, including 0 for 5 from 3-point range. He also had six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.

— Amazon Prime Video will have many familiar faces along with some new voices when it begins its first season of NBA coverage in October. Kevin Harlan, Ian Eagle and Stan Van Gundy are coming over from TNT while Cassidy Hubbarth is coming from ESPN. Harlan and Van Gundy were part of TNT’s crew for its final NBA game on May 31. Harlan has been with TNT since 1996, while Eagle, who has called Nets games since 1996, began doing national games for TNT in 2010. Prime Video also announced the additions of play-by-play announcers Michael Grady and Eric Collins, analysts Brent Barry and Dell Curry, and Allie Clifton and Kristina Pink as sideline reporters.

COLLEGE
— A new college sports agency has rejected certain NIL deals involving donor-backed collectives. These collectives, formed to funnel money to athletes or schools, fail to meet NCAA rules requiring deals to serve a valid business purpose. A letter sent to Division I athletic directors explained that deals solely raising funds for athletes, like selling merchandise or hosting events, do not qualify.

GOLF
— Jake Knapp opened with a 64 at the Scottish Open to finish his first round in a four way tie for first. Scottie Scheffler shot a 67 while Rory McIlroy finished with three straight birdies finish with a 68. Knapp is not yet in the British Open at Royal Portrush next week. The leading three players from the Scottish Open not already in the field will earn exemptions.

MLB
— Anthony Volpe scored the winning run on Aaron Judge’s sacrifice fly in the 10th inning, as the Yankees rallied past Seattle 6-5 after Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo took a no-hitter into the eighth.

— Yankees public address announcer Paul Olden will miss his first three games since assuming the role 2009 due to a personal obligation, ending a streak of more than 1,300 games. Olden will miss this weekend’s three-game series against the Cubs, ending a run of 1,339 regular-season and postseason games.

— Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt will undergo a second Tommy John surgery that will sideline him for the rest of this season and much of next season, manager Aaron Boone said Thursday. Schmidt will have the surgery today. The 29-year-old right-hander will join Gerrit Cole as the second Yankee to undergo Tommy John surgery this year.

— Ceddanne Rafaela hit a go-ahead, two-run double during a three-run seventh inning as the Boston Red Sox earned their season-high seventh straight win by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3.

— Gunnar Henderson hit a two-run HR in the eighth inning for his first career pinch-hit homer as the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Mets 3-1 in the opener of a doubleheader. In Game two, Jordan Westburg homered and drove in three runs as Baltimore beat the Mets 7-3 for a doubleheader sweep.

— Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado hit leadoff homers as the San Diego Padres beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3 to split a four-game series.

— Tyler Soderstrom went 3 for 5 with four RBIs, including a game winning RBI single to give the Athletics a 5-4 11-inning win over the Atlanta Braves. The Braves have lost 11 of 14 games and five straight series.

— Miles Mikolas pitched two-hit ball into the sixth inning, helping the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals 8-1. Willson Contreras homered and Alec Burleson drove in two runs as St. Louis won the rubber game in the three-game series.

— Marcus Semien went 4 for 5 and Corey Seager had a two-run single in a seven-run third inning to help the Texas Rangers rout the Los Angeles Angels 11-4 for a split of their four-game series.

— Spencer Steer homered and Nick Lodolo pitched six shutout innings as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Miami Marlins 6-0 to earn a split in the four-game series.

— The opener of a four-game series between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox on Thursday night was postponed because of rain. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Friday.

— New York Mets pitcher David Peterson was added to the National League roster for the All-Star Game on Thursday, replacing San Francisco left-hander Robbie Ray. It’s the first All-Star selection for Peterson, who is 6-4 with a 3.06 ERA in 18 starts. Peterson is the fourth All-Star from the Mets, joining shortstop Francisco Lindor, first baseman Pete Alonso and closer Edwin Díaz. Ray is going to be inactive for Tuesday’s All-Star Game as he is scheduled to pitch for the Giants on Sunday against the Dodgers.
