MITCHELL KERNELS
— Mitchell Kernels volleyball lost to SF Washington on Thursday night, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-12). Kenzie Hetland led the Kernels with seven blocks on the night and was named the KORN Player of the Match. It’s the first loss for Mitchell at home this season after starting 8-0. The Kernels stay at seventh in Class AA seed points with two matches left in the regular season. Mitchell will be at No. 3 Brandon Valley on Tuesday at 7 pm.
DAKOTA WESLEYAN
— Dakota Wesleyan men’s soccer is the No. 5 seed in the GPAC Tournament. They will be at No. 4 Morningside on Saturday at 1 pm for the quarterfinals.
— Dakota Wesleyan women’s soccer is the No. 6 seed in the GPAC Tournament. They will be at No. 3 Hastings on Tuesday at 7 pm for the quarterfinals.
— Dakota Wesleyan volleyball ends the regular season at Briar Cliff on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
— Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball opens the season on Tuesday, Nov. 4 vs. Bismarck State at the Corn Palace at 6 pm.
— Dakota Wesleyan men’s basketball hosts Bismarck State next Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Corn Palace at 8 pm.
SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
— South Dakota State volleyball defeated Omaha for the second time this season in five sets, 3-2 (23-25, 25-14, 25-18, 19-25, 15-11) on Thursday night. Sylvie Zgonc led the Jacks with 20 kills, while setter Rylee Martin finished with 53 assists. SDSU stays undefeated on the season in Summit League play with an 11-0 conference record and 17-3 overall. The Jackrabbits host USD on Saturday night at 7 pm.
— South Dakota State head coach Aaron Johnston was named to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award. Johnston is one of 20 mid-major coaches nationwide named to the watch list, which features coaches from 13 different conferences. Johnston guided South Dakota State to a 30-4 record last season. The Jackrabbits have won 63 consecutive Summit League regular season games and three straight Summit League tournament titles.
— South Dakota State football hosts Indiana State on Saturday at 2 pm. SDSU enters the week with a 7-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark at the halfway point of the Missouri Valley Football Conference season following a 38-7 loss at the hands of top-ranked North Dakota State on Oct. 25. The loss snapped the Jackrabbits’ 33-game home winning streak, which stood as the fourth-longest in FCS history, and also dropped SDSU into a tie for fourth place in this week’s top 25 media poll. Indiana State remains in search of its first conference victory with a 2-6 overall record and is 0-4 in league play.
— South Dakota State women’s soccer will be the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament that starts this weekend at home sites. SDSU hosts No. 6 Omaha on Saturday at 5 pm.
— South Dakota State women’s basketball opens the season on Monday at Creighton at 7 pm in Omaha.
— South Dakota State men’s basketball opens the season on Monday vs. Merrimack at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls at 8 pm.

— USD volleyball won its fourth match in a row with a 3-0 sweep at St. Thomas on Thursday, (25-21, 28-26, 25-22). Setter Avery Van Hook finished with 30 assists for the Coyotes, while Audrey Nelson had 11 kills. USD will be at South Dakota State on Saturday night at 7 pm.
— USD football hosts No. 8 North Dakota on Saturday at 1 pm.
— USD women’s soccer will be the No. 4 seed heading into this week’s Summit League Tournament. The Coyotes will host Kansas City on Sunday at 1 pm.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, Friday at 7 pm on FOX – Game 6 of the World Series. Toronto leads 3-2.
NFL
— Lamar Jackson threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns, returning from a right hamstring strain, as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Miami Dolphins 28-6. Jackson completed 18 of 23 passes in his first start since Week 4. Tight end Mark Andrews had two touchdown catches. Derrick Henry rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
— LSU athletic director Scott Woodward has resigned under pressure from the job he’s held for six years. His departure on Thursday night came four days after the firing of football coach Brian Kelly and a day after Republican Gov. Jeff Landry said Woodward would not hire Kelly’s replacement. Woodward is a Baton Rouge native and LSU graduate. He was hired as athletic director at his alma mater in April 2019. Since then, LSU has won two national championships in baseball and one each in football, women’s basketball and gymnastics.
NBA
— Victor Wembanyama had 27 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocks as the San Antonio Spurs improved to 5-0 for the first time in franchise history by beating the Miami Heat 107-101. Bam Adebayo had 31 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat.
— Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder improved to 6-0 by beating the Washington Wizards 127-108.
— Ryan Rollins set a career scoring high for a second straight game with 32 points as the Milwaukee Bucks withstood Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence to beat the Golden State Warriors 120-110. Antetokounmpo, who entered Thursday ranked second in the league in scoring (36) and rebounding (14.0), was dealing with left knee soreness.
