Senior Kami Wadsworth of Hamlin has been named the Class A girls basketball player of the year after leading the Chargers to a perfect 25-0 record and a state championship.
The future University of Sioux Falls Cougar averaged 22 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and led Hamlin to back-to-back second place finishes at the state tournament before defeating Wagner, 58-55 on March 11 in this season’s Class A final.
Wadsworth’s teammate, freshman guard Addie Neuendorf, was named to the third team after averaging 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Runners-up Wagner had two All-State selections, led by freshman Ashlyn Koupal and senior Emma Yost.
Koupal is a first time selection as she made the first team after averaging a team-high 22 points, along with 6.8 rebounds per game. Yost ends her high school career as a three time All-State member as she was selected to the second team for the second straight year. The future Dakota Wesleyan Tiger averaged 15 points and 10.4 rebounds as a senior.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton junior Emilee Fox is now a four time All-State player after being named to this year’s second team. The future South Dakota State Jackrabbit averaged 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists this past season for the Titans.
