Jackrabbits Stay Perfect in Summit League with Win at Omaha

OMAHA – The South Dakota State women’s basketball team saw 10 players score on its way to a 93-63 rout of Omaha Saturday afternoon at Baxter Arena.

The Jackrabbits jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the first three minutes and scored at least 22 points in all four quarters to blow by the Mavericks. SDSU connected on 13 3-pointers and tallied 28 assists as a team in the victory, both season highs.

SDSU remains undefeated in Summit league action at 9-0 and carries a 19-3 overall record. Omaha slips to 9-13 on the year and 1-8 in conference games.

Junior Brooklyn Meyer poured in 22 points on a 9-of-12 shooting effort to lead all players. She also contributed five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Katie Vasecka’s four 3-pointers was a team high and she finished with 14 points on the day. Vasecka was also the team leader in assists with five. Mesa Byom rounded out SDSU’s double-digit scorers with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go with four rebounds.

Paige Meyer and Haleigh Timmer contributed nine points apiece. All nine of Meyer’s points came from the 3-point line. Timmer added four rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

Kallie Theisen tallied season bests with eight points and four assists while corralling nine rebounds. Madison Mathiowetz and Emilee Fox also dished four assists each.

Grace Cave scored 18 points to lead Omaha.She also had six assists and three steals.

NOTES

  • Haleigh Timmer sits at 998 points in her career. She is two points away from becoming the 44th member of the Jackrabbits’ 1,000 point club.
  • Brooklyn Meyer surpassed 500 rebounds and 100 blocks for her career in the game.
  • SDSU shot above .500 for the 10th time this season.
