Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan athletic director Jon Hart has officially announced the appointment of interim head golf coach Jeff Meyerink as the men’s and women’s head golf coach. Meyerink stepped into the interim role just before the fall season began and led the Tigers to a strong season.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the way this group practiced and performed this fall and I’m excited to see them grow and accomplish their goals in the spring season and beyond,” Meyerink commented. The Tigers had to deal with some adversity with the change in coaching just before the season started. “Finding out you have a new coach before the season starts is a shock, but they embraced the opportunity to learn from someone new and I commend them for that,” Meyerink added.
Hart also spoke on the appointment. “Since Jeff took over the interim role, he has executed everything we’ve asked of him, and more, at a high level. He has exhibited all the qualities and characteristics of a successful head coach at the collegiate level. He is a tremendous fit for our department and to lead these programs going forward; therefore, we are extremely excited to remove the interim tag.”
Meyerink and the Tiger golf team are looking forward to the spring season, especially the DWU Spring Invitational on April 8 and 9. “The team is very excited to host and have a home event. It has been about a decade since DWU has hosted a home event, so it will be a great experience for the players. We hope to see some DWU faithful out on the course,” Meyerink commented.
