Jeff Meyerink Named Interim Head Golf Coach at Dakota Wesleyan

Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan athletic director, Jon Hart has officially announced the appointment of ’05 DWU graduate Jeff Meyerink. Hart spoke on the appointment, “We are extremely excited to add someone of Jeff’s caliber to our team. He is an accomplished coach, instructor and golfer who will give our student-athletes the ultimate chance to grow and develop their game. He is a respected name in the golf community, and we look forward to him joining the DWU family.”

Meyerink currently serves as the Mitchell High School head girls golf coach that was the 2023 State AA Champions for the first time in school history. Meyerink was also named the SDHSAA Golf Coach-of-the-year. Jeff also led the girls Kernel’s team to back-to-back state runner ups in 2021 and 2022, were the 2023 and 2021 ESD champions, and his squad won 10 of the 14 total tournaments during the 2023 season. Meyerink had this to say about the new position, “I am extremely excited and eager to work with a special group of students, staff, and faculty at DWU. As an alum, this position takes on a special meaning to me and I want to thank DWU, Jon Hart and the administrative team for this opportunity. I am fully committed to helping take these programs to the next level.”

Meyerink has also had quite the playing career of his own with a big list of accomplishments throughout his career.

  • Six-time SDGA Champion
  • Six-time SDGA Runner-up
  • 2019 SDGA Player of the Year
  • Seven-time Mitchell City Champion
  • Nine-time SoDak Cup Qualifier with a record of 19-6-2
  • 2014 South Dakota Qualifier for USGA Team Championship held in French Lick, Ind.
  • Former Pro Golfer- Top finish 2nd place
  • SDIC Conference Champion (Dakota Wesleyan 1999)
  • Nine hole in ones

Given the timeline of Coach Russ Pick’s departure to assume the same position at Embry Ridle (AZ), DWU will assess the need to conduct a full search at the conclusion of the fall season.
