Mitchell Kernels boys golf placed seventh out of 10 teams at the ESD Tournament in Aberdeen on Monday at Moccasin Creek Country Club.
The Kernels shot +54 as a team, just two shots behind Yankton for sixth and four shots behind Tea Area for fifth. Pierre won the team title with a +22, a dozen shots better than second place Harrisburg.
Everett Morrison and Sam Titze led Mitchell with an 83 (+11) to finish tied for 15th on a windy day. Asher Dannenbring tied for 27th with an 86 (+14), while Marshall Widstrom shot a 90 (+18) to place 38th.
Sawyer Sonnenschein of Pierre finished first individually with a 74 (+2), with Derek Anderson of Tea Area was one shot behind (75, +3).
Mitchell ends the season next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 7-8, at the Class AA State Golf Meet in Watertown at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.
