Jackson Neuman of Platte-Geddes made a 65-footer at the buzzer to give Platte-Geddes a 56-53 win over Gregory Monday night. Gregory’s Danielle Mitchell made a game-tying three-pointer with 5 seconds to go. Mitchell had a game-high 18 points in the loss. Caden Foxley had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Black Panthers.

Jones County beat Mitchell Christian 47-25 in a girls’ basketball game Monday night. Mallory Valburg had a game-high 29 points in the win, Audrey Hofer had 12 points for Mitchell Christian who plays at Tripp-Delmont/Armour Thursday night in Tripp.

Julia Weber scored 19 points and Morgan Uptagrafft had 13 points in Bridgewater-Emery’s 61-48 win over Bon Homme. Jurni Vavruska had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Cavaliers.

Megan Reiner had 21 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals for Tripp-Delmont-Armour in its 48-21 win at Colome.

Wessington Springs defeated Highmore-Harrold 45-43 behind Avery Orth’s 23-point, 10-rebound performance. Kirstie Munsen notched 15 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans who face Sanbron Central-Woonsocket in the semifinal round of the 281 Conference Tournament today.

Liz Boschee had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Trista White had 14 points and five rebounds as the Blackhawks cruised past Iroquois-Doland 61-15.

The Mitchell gymnastics team travels to Watertown for the Watertown Invite on Thursday. The Mitchell Kernel basketball teams are off until weekend matchups with Sturgis Friday and Spearfish Saturday. The boys will make the trip west to face the Scoopers and Spartans. The girls will play Sturgis at the Corn Palace Friday night at 7 p.m. and then play Spearfish at Mitchell Christian Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. KORN News Radio will have coverage of both Kernel girls’ this weekend. The Mitchell Kernel wrestling team returns to the mat Saturday at the Chamberlain Invite.

The Dakota Wesleyan University track and field sprint back into action next at the SDSU DII Invite at 1:30 p.m. on Friday from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings. Dakota Wesleyan wrestling is back in action on Friday in Marshall, Missouri. The Tigers will compete in the two-day Missouri Valley Invite beginning at 12 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

The DWU basketball teams are on the road for GPAC games Friday and Saturday. The Tigers will play Hastings Friday at 5 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. On Saturday the Tigers will play Doane at 2 and 3:45. The basketball teams are back at the Corn Palace Wednesday, January 26th to play Dordt. The women have five home games in February and the men four games at the Palace.

The Mitchell Marlins girls’ hockey team, winners of seven straight, hosts unbeaten Sioux Falls (13-0) at 8 p.m. on Friday. Sioux Falls handed the Marlins its only loss of the season with a 5-0 victory back on December 19th. The Mitchell Marlin boys’ hockey team (3-8-1) play at Sioux Falls 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.

The SDSU women’s basketball team, 10-8 overall and 5-1 in the Summit League, return to Frost Thursday to host St. Thomas Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Jackrabbits host Western Illinois Saturday for 2 p.m. game. The SDSU men’s basketball team (15-4, 6-0 Summit League) is scheduled to head for Summit League newcomer St. Thomas Thursday night in St. Paul, Minn. SDSU then heads to Macomb, Illinois to play Western Illinois Saturday afternoon.

The South Dakota women’s basketball team (14-4, 7-0) winners of 12 straight, return home to host Western Illinois at 7 p.m. Thursday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion. The Coyotes host St. Thomas Saturday afternoon. The South Dakota men’s basketball team plays at Western Illinois Thursday evening before facing St. Thomas Saturday in St. Paul.
