Mitchell, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University will be represented by two Tiger athletes at the upcoming NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, set to take place in Marion, Indiana, and hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
Leading the way is Abby Magnuson (Gr.), a seasoned competitor making her sixth appearance at nationals—and third in the outdoor season. Magnuson aims to cap off her collegiate career with another All-American finish in the shot put. She earned her first All-American honors at last year’s national meet in Marion where she placed fifth overall.
This year, Magnuson enters the national stage tied for 13th in the shot put and 28th in the discus. She is looking to add to her accolades and potentially earn her third career All-American title. Magnuson competes at noon for both events. Shot put will be on May 22, while the discus will be on Friday, May 23.
Ethan Watson (Fr.) is making his second trip to nationals and his first outdoors. He qualified two weeks ago at the Concordia Twilight Meet with a personal record throw of 16.46 meters (54 feet). Watson enters the national stage ranked 14th in the men’s shot put. Watson is scheduled to throw at noon on Friday, May 23.
