SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –South Dakota State’s Zeke Mayo was selected as the male recipient of the TicketSmarter Peak Performer of the Month honors for February, league officials announced Thursday. Mayo collected his first career monthly honors.
Mayo helped lead the Jackrabbits to a regular season title and seal the top seed at The Summit League Men’s Basketball Championships with a 6-2 record in the month. Across eight games, the Lawrence, Kan., native averaged 22 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals.
Mayo also played 38.7 minutes per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 34 percent from three-point range and 89 percent at the free throw line. He had five 20-plus point efforts including a season-high 35-point output against North Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits head into The Summit League Men’s Basketball Championship as the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. SDSU will play the winner of the No. 8 Oral Roberts vs. No. 9 South Dakota game in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Saturday, March 9, at 6 p.m. in the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.
