Mitchell Girls Golf holds a one-shot lead over Aberdeen Central after Day One of competition at the Class AA State Golf Meet in Brookings.
The Kernels shot a season best 326 as a team after the 1st round, which was one shot better than the Golden Eagles and four shots better than Pierre.
Mitchell Sophomore Allison Meyerink leads the field as the only golfer to shoot under par on Monday, finishing with a -1, 71 on the day. Meyerink leads Lauren Sutcliffe of O’Gorman by three shots.
Last year’s AA Girls Champion, Reese Jansa of Harrisburg, sits in third place after shooting a +4, 76.
Quinn Dannenbring of Mitchell is tied for 13th individually at +9.
The second and final day of the Class AA State Girls Golf Meet starts today at 8:30 am.
