
LE MARS, Iowa — The Tigers would face some of the country’s best competition down at the Northwest Iowa National Invitational down in Iowa.
Individually, Allison Meyerink would lead the way for the entire team, finishing just three strokes outside of first place. Meyerink would record two 68 (-4) marks in both the first and second rounds of the contest to get ahead of the pack, and a 71 (-1) finish in the third round would propel her to tied-second place with a final score of 207 (-9) in an immensely impressive effort.
The rest of the team would all have similar finishes individually, helping round out the team effort to place seventh as a team. Ashton Austreim would be the second-best performer from Dakota Wesleyan, finishing with a final tally of 236 (+20), highlighted by a solid 76 (+4) mark in the second round of the tournament.
Sara Sudenga and Dakotah Larson would end up tied on the leaderboard with both athletes posting a 238 (+22) to round out the lineup. Sudenga would finish below par in the first round, posting a 71 (-1), while Larson would post her best round at the end of the first day with a 77 (+5) mark in the second round. The team was up to the task against some of the NAIA’s best, and the competition will serve them well as they continue their fall slate.
