Mitchell baseball will be the #6 seed in the Harrisburg region this Saturday when they take on #11 seed Rapid City Stevens at 2:30 pm.
The host Harrisburg is the #3 seed and will play #14 Huron at Noon. The winners of the two games face off at 5 pm for the region championship and a spot in next weekend’s Class A baseball state tournament at Sioux Falls Stadium.
Mitchell and RC Stevens split a doubleheader this past Saturday at Drake Field with Stevens taking the first game 1-0, while Mitchell won game two 3-2 on a Dylan Soulek walk-off solo home run.
RC Stevens starter Brady Bickett had 15 strikeouts against Michell in the game one shutout, allowing only four hits and two walks in the victory. Gavin Soukup pitched well despite the loss, allowing just one run and five hits, with five strikeouts and four walks over seven innings.
Mitchell lost a doubleheader to Harrisburg on April 29, 4-2 and 11-0, while splitting two games at Huron on April 13, winning 10-9, before losing 5-4.
