Mitchell Boys Golf Ties For First, One Shot Off School Record

Mitchell Kernels boys golf tied Watertown for first place on Tuesday at +5 (293), one shot off of tying the school record for a team score, at the Watertown Invite at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

The Kernels were led by Asher Dannenbring and his sixth place individual performance shooting E (72). Teammate Everett Morrison tied for seventh at +1 (73), while Sam Titze and Carter McCormick both shot +2 (74) to finish in a tie for ninth.

Dannenbring was steady on the day, shooting par (36) on the front and back nine with three birdies in his round. Morrison led Mitchell with four birdies, shooting -1 (35) on the front nine.

Watertown would win the team title tiebreaker by have the higher placing fifth golfer. The Arrows Jaden Solheim shot +5, while Mitchell’s Marshall Widstrom and Brady Reiners were both at +15.

Charlie Swift of Harrisburg won the individual title with a -4 (68) with a bogey free round and four birdies.

Mitchell will compete at the Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen on Monday at the ESD conference meet. The Class AA boys state golf meet is back in Watertown at Cattail Crossing on October 7-8.
