
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Sioux Falls Christian shut out Mitchell 9-0 in boys tennis action Monday at Tomar Park, while the Kernels rebounded later in the day with an 8-1 win over Lennox.
Against Sioux Falls Christian, Mitchell dropped all six singles matches and all three doubles contests.
In singles, Sioux Falls Christian’s Mitchell Hofer defeated Matthew Mauszycki 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1. Elijah Lindgren topped Asher Dannenbring 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2, while Rex Lefever beat Cooper Star 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Logan Boyle defeated Dawson Adams 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4, Jack Squier downed Simon Wiese 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and Jacob Woodward beat Patrick Morgan 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
In doubles play, Hofer and Squier defeated Mauszycki and Star 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Lefever and Boyle beat Adams and Dannenbring 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and Lindgren and Woodward closed out the sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Wiese and Morgan at No. 3.
Mitchell responded later Monday with an 8-1 victory over Lennox.
In singles, Lennox’s Eli Plank defeated Mauszycki 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1. Mitchell took the remaining five matches, as Dannenbring beat Wyatt Holland 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Star defeated Duncan Johnson 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Adams beat Chase Lundquist 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Wiese topped Cameron Smith 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Morgan defeated Riley Nelson 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.
Mitchell swept doubles play, with Mauszycki and Star winning a three-set match over Plank and Holland 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 at No. 1. Adams and Dannenbring defeated Johnson and Lundquist 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Wiese and Morgan closed the dual with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Smith and Nelson at No. 3.
Mitchell, 7-2 overall in duals, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Sioux Falls Lincoln and Sioux Falls Jefferson in a triangular beginning at noon at Hitchcock Park in Mitchell.
