MITCHELL, S.D. – Mitchell Christian won both the boys and girls individual titles on Thursday at the Mitchell Invitational cross country meet at Wild Oak Golf Course.
In the boys race, Silas Holdeman won the 5-kilometer race in 16 minutes, 13 seconds. Golden Eagles teammates Luke Mentele and Sawyer Holdeman finished second and third, respectively. Mitchell freshman Micah Bennett was fourth in 17:22.
Mitchell Christian also had Luke Atnip finish seventh, Brady Asbenson eighth and Micah Menning 12th.
In the girls race, Mitchell Christian freshman Laura Nemec won in 20:19. Teammate Amy Henderson was fourth in 22:42, while Nicole Kleinsasser finished 11th and Trudie Hofer was 12th.
Mitchell’s Averi Gerfen placed sixth in 23:20, followed by Ella Hempel in 13th.
Mitchell and Mitchell Christian cross country returns to action Sept. 4 at the Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls.
