Mitchell Girls Claim Second at State Tournament in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS – Mitchell girls golf maintained their second place showing after day one to finish runner-up at the Class AA state tournament on Tuesday at Prairie Green Golf Course.

The Kernels were 11 shots better on day two finishing at +67 (643) overall, 18 shots behind first place Aberdeen Central.

Olivia Braun of Aberdeen Central was the only golfer under par for the tournament shooting -4 (140) with eight birdies on Tuesday.

Mitchell’s Maddie Childs finished all alone in second with a two day total of +4 (148). Childs shot a 71 on Tuesday with three birdies.

The Kernels also had two other golfers finish in the top 10 with Anna Eliason tied for seventh at +17 (161), while Ava Eliason was tied for ninth at +19 (163).
