Mitchell Kernels girls tennis team claimed the ESD Conference title on Tuesday in Watertown, led by six flight champions.
With a total of 321 points over the two-day event, Mitchell outpaced second-place Yankton (266 points) and third-place Watertown (246 points).
Carsyn Weich won Flight 2 singles as the top seed, one of four singles winners for the Kernels, including Elly Clement in Flight 4, Matteah Graves in Flight 5 and Mia Larson in Flight 6 singles.
Mitchell also excelled in doubles play, winning two of the three flight titles. Clement and Graves teamed up to take the Flight 2 doubles title with a 10-7 win over Aberdeen Central, while Mia Larson and Katie Morgan won Flight 3 doubles with a 10-8 victory over Harrisburg.
The Class AA girls state tennis championships are set for Oct. 10-11 in Rapid City.
