Mitchell Kernels boys golf finished fifth on Tuesday at the Pierre Invitational at Hillsview Golf Club in the second tournament of the season.
The Kernels shot +18 (306) as a team, led by Asher Dannenbring’s -1 (71). Dannenbring finished in a four way tie for eighth place with three birdies on the day.
Marshall Widstrom of Mitchell tied for 28th overall with a +5 (77), while his teammate Carter McCormick, +6 (78), tied for 31st, one shot behind.
Sawyer Sonnenschein of Pierre won the event with a -8 (64). Sonnenschein had a bogey free round with eight birdies, shooting a -6 (30) on the front nine.
Kaden Rylance of Watertown placed second, one shot behind with a -7 (65).
Pierre won the 13 team invite with a -15 (273), followed by Watertown with a -12 (276).
Mitchell will compete at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron on Thursday at 10 am.
