Mitchell High School and the Mitchell Athletic Booster Club is excited to announce the Mitchell High School
Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
An open house will be held at Bradley’s on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm with a program being held at 7:00pm. Inductees will also be recognized at halftime of the Kernel Bowl football game on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
The Class of 2024 inductees are Brooke Cersosimo ’08, Tyler Jones ’98, Marcy (Graham) Jones ’75, Ryan Krome ’05 and Ron Sullivan.
Brooke Cersosimo ‘08
In gymnastics, Brooke led her team to two State “AA” Championships in 2007 and 2008. Her individual
accolades were equally impressive. She claimed 12 state “AA” titles across various events, including a perfect
10 in beam, the only one in state meet history. Her success in gymnastics was further underscored by her
numerous all-time state records, particularly in the all-around, bars, and beam events.
Brooke’s success wasn’t confined to gymnastics. In tennis, she won the 2005 State “AA” Flight 3 Singles
Championship and contributed to two ESD Team Championships. Her dominance on the court was evident as
she secured four ESD Singles Championships and three ESD Doubles Championships in various flights.
Her athletic achievements earned her the South Dakota Elite 15 Outstanding Female Athlete Award and the
Mitchell Republic Female Athlete of the Year title in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Following high school Brooke’s athletic journey continued at Southern Utah University, where she competed
as a Division I gymnast. Her collegiate career was marked by notable achievements, including being part of the
2010 Western Athletic Conference Team Championship and the 2010 National Academic Team Championship.
Individually, she excelled on the balance beam, winning the WAC Championship in 2011 with an impressive
score of 9.925. Her contributions to the SUU gymnastics program were recognized when she was named SUU
Female Athlete of the Year in 2012 and later inducted into the SUU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
Brooke, a 2008 graduate, currently resides in Santa Ana, California, and is in her 10th season at the NFL
Network.
Tyler Jones ’98
Tyler Jones, a 1998 graduate, was a dual sport athlete, competing in football and wrestling. His efforts in
football earned him ESD All-Conference and was awarded the team defensive MVP. He left his greatest mark
on the wrestling mat. There he was a 5 time state placer, never finishing lower than 3rd place. He was a 4 time
state finalist and a 2 time state champion, winning state titles at 140 pounds in 1997 and at 171 pounds in
1998. He was a team member of 4 consecutive state championship team titles from 1995 to 1998, which at
the time was a state record.
Following high school he wrestling at South Dakota State University. There he was a 4 time NCAA Division II
All-American and a 2 time national finalist. He was also a 2 time North Central Conference Champion. Tyler
was inducted into the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014.
Tyler currently lives in Sioux Falls with his wife Erin and 3 children Slaton, Axl and Cora, where he owns and
operates Sioux Falls Exteriors.
Marcy (Graham) Jones ‘75
A 1975 graduate of Mitchell High School, Marcy (Graham) Jones made a significant mark on the school, both
as a student-athlete and a teacher/coach. As a student-athlete she was four-year letterwinner in track and
field and a top contender in the 880-yard run and relays.
Following her graduation from South Dakota State University, she began her teaching career in 1980 at
Mitchell Junior High School, retiring from the Mitchell School District in 2022 after 42 years. Her time with the
district included a diverse coaching career, including roles with the Swimming & Diving, Cross Country and
Track & Field teams. She served as the Head Coach of the Girls Cross Country team in 1990 when they were
ESD Champions and the State AA Champions, the first Mitchell High School girls team to win a state
championship.
Coach Jones was named the 1991 Mitchell High School Coach of the Year and the KORN-Q107 Radio Coach of
the year for the 1990-1991 school year. Marcy currently lives in Mitchell with her husband Wayne of 46 years.
Ryan Krome ‘05
Ryan Krome was a multi-sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, track & field and baseball. On the
football team, he started at running back and cornerback and returned punts and kicks as a junior and senior.
On offense he scored 15 career touchdowns, running for 758 yards with 126 yards receiving. Defensively he
was a lockdown cornerback with 5 interceptions and 38 tackles. He was named to the All-Conference team
and as a senior was named to the South Dakota Elite 45 and the All-State Football Team.
Ryan left his greatest mark with the basketball team, playing on the varsity all four years of high school,
starting the last three. He was named to the all-tournament team three times. His senior season in 2005 was
highlighted by leading his team to the state championship, being named first team All-State, and graduated
holding the school records for most career assists and steals. He was also one of the eight finalists for South
Dakota Mr. Basketball and was named to the ESD All-Conference Team.
Following graduation, Ryan attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN. A 3-year starter,
he led the Mustangs to a 30-10 record as a senior, capturing the regular-season conference title and winning
the regional tournament, becoming just the second team in SMSU history to make it to the Elite Eight. He was
also named Defensive Player of the Year in the NSIC.
A 2005 graduate, Ryan currently lives in Sioux Falls where he serves as a trust officer at American Bank &
Trust, with his wife, Jeana (Hoffman) Krome and their 3 sons Kruz, Kash and Knox.
Ron Sullivan
Ron Sullivan is a 1967 graduate of Madison High School where he was a multi-sport athlete competing in
football, cross country, basketball, wrestling and track & field. He was a 3 sport letterwinner as a junior and a 4
sport letterwinner as a senior. His college career included being a 2 year letterwinner in cross country and a 4
year letterwinner in wrestling, including a 3 time placer at the Conference Wrestling Tournament and
wrestling at the NAIA National Tournament as a sophomore.
After graduating from Dakota State College in 1971, he was hired by Bob Brooks to teach math at Mitchell
Junior High, where he began a coaching career that spanned over a quarter century. He coached 8th grade
boys track for 17 years, 8th grade football for 25 years and served as the wrestling coach for 27 years.
Coach Sullivan was named the 1986 & 1996 Junior High Wrestling Coach of the Year by the SD Wrestling
Coaches Association and was inducted into the SD Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2006. In 1986 he coached the
South Dakota USA Wrestling Team, traveling to compete in West Germany.
Ron retired from the Mitchell School District in 2004 and continues to live in Mitchell
