Mitchell Post 18 improved to 4-1 on the season with a 2-1 win on Friday at Rapid City Post 22 in the Veterans Classic.
Dylan Soulek shut down the Hardhats offense allowing one run and five hits over seven innings, along with eight strikeouts in 98 pitches for the win.
Post 18 scored first on a Carter Miller second inning single that scored Hudson Haley from third for a 1-0 lead.
A Tyler Sanderson RBI single scored Lincoln Bates from second to make it 2-0 Mitchell in the top of the fifth inning.
The run producing hits from Miller and Sanderson were the only two hits that Mitchell had all night.
Rapid City Post 22 scored its only run in the bottom half of the fifth on a fielder’s choice.
