Mitchell Post 18 continues to roll in Rapid City

Mitchell Post 18 Legion Baseball got another solid pitching performance at the Veterans Classic in Rapid City on Saturday morning in a 7-1 win over Huron.

Peyton Schroder went all seven innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits with six strikeouts and no walks on just 67 pitches. Schroder has started his Legion season with 12 innings without allowing an earned run over two starts.

Post 18 (5-1) took an early lead on a Tyler Sanderson RBI single to center that scored Lincoln Bates for a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Huron answered in the bottom half to tie the game at 1-1.

In the top of the third, Karter Sibson’s single to right scored Dylan Soulek and gave Mitchell the lead for good.

Post 18 added one more run in the fifth and blew the game open with a four-run sixth inning.

Mitchell has one more game at the Veterans Classic on Sunday with the opponent to be determined. Post 18 returns home on Tuesday when they host Huron for a 5 pm doubleheader. KORN News Radio will have coverage of game one with the pregame show at 4:45 pm.
