Mitchell Post 18 opens season with doubleheader sweep of Harrisburg

Mitchell Post 18 Legion Baseball opened the season on Tuesday with a home doubleheader sweep vs. Harrisburg, winning game one 8-7 and game two 13-0 in five innings.
Mitchell hung on to win game one, allowing three Harrisburg runs in the top of the seven inning, before stranding the tying run at third.
Post 18 would lead the entire way, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and having at 6-2 lead after four innings. Karter Sibson was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI’s, while Peyton Mandel scored three times out of the leadoff spot.
Landon Waddell got the win throwing three shutout innings and allowing only one hit.
In game two, Mitchell would score seven runs in the first inning and had a 13-0 lead after the third.
Dylan Soulek, Lincoln Bates and Peyton Mandel each had a double, while Landon Soulek had a triple and three RBI’s. Bates was 2-for-2 in game two with three runs scored and two RBI’s.
Peyton Schroder threw five shutout innings, allowing three hits with five strikeouts in just 49 pitches.
Mitchell heads to Rapid City on Thursday for the Veteran’s Classic, Post 18 will play Cheyenne and Laramie on Thursday afternoon, Rapid City Post 22 on Friday and Huron on Saturday.
