Mitchell Splits Doubleheader at Pierre Behind Tyler Christensen’s No-Hitter

Mitchell’s Tyler Christensen threw a no-hitter at Pierre on Monday afternoon in a 2-0, game one victory. Christensen allowed two walks while striking out five on 83 pitches.

A Jaxson Hartman sacrifice fly to right broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning to score Carter McCormick from third. Mitchell added another run in the top of the seventh inning as Parker Mandel singled in Hudson Borgan from third to make it 2-0.

Pierre won game two of the doubleheader 8-3 with four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth. Mitchell took the lead with three runs in the top of the fourth inning, aided by a Pierre error and a wild pitch.

Mitchell, 7-5 on the season, will be at Sioux Falls Lincoln on Tuesday for a single game at 6 pm, before returning home on Friday for a doubleheader vs. Sturgis at 4:30 pm. KORN News Radio FM 101.3/AM 1490 and KORNRadio.com will have the pregame show starting at 4:15 pm.
